Built of steel by W.B. Thompson & Co., Dundee, for Charles Barrie, Dundee, to be used on the jute trade. She was rigged as a four-masted barque carrying double topgallant sails but no royals. She had the unique arrengement with the topgallant masts rigged on after-side of the topmasts. For a four-masted barque, she was extremely easy to handle; with the bald-headed rigging and her brace- and halyard winches (yet uncommon at this time) she could be sailed with a crew of under 20 men.

  • 1911
    Sold to Liverpool.

  • 1914
Sold to August Troberg, Mariehamn. She was then the biggest sailing vessel in Finland.

  • 1917
    Sold to Gustaf Erikson, Mariehamn.

  • 1918
Taken over by the French government

  • 1919
Returned to Erikson; the legendary Captain Ruben de Cloux became the master of the ship. After sailing with carious cargos all around the world she ended up going regularly on the Australian wheat trade. She proved herself a ``lucky'' ship, and Erikson started to refer to her as ``Lucky Lawhill.''

  • 1942
Taken as prize of war by the South African government, and was used to carry wheat to South Africa.

  • 1948
Sold to Portugal, but was laid up in a river creek at Lourenço Marques.

  • 1957
    Broken up.
