Built of iron by Russell & Co., Port Glasgow, for Rickmers Reismühlen, Rhederei und Schiffbau A.G., Bremerhaven. She was rigged as a four-masted barque carrying royals over single topgallant sails.

Sold to an association of ship owners in Mariehamn, with Gustaf Erikson as the main partner. She was renamed Åland.
- 20 August 1914
Stranded near South Reef, New Caledonia where the lights had been extinguished because of the war, which the crew of the Åland did not know about. The vessel was wrecked. Gustaf Erikson now decided never to give a ship that he purchased a new name.
