Built of iron by Oswald, Mordaunt & Co. in Southampton for E. Bates & Sons, Liverpool. She was rigged as a three-masted full-rigged ship carrying royals over double fore and main topgallant sails, and single mizzen topgallant sail.

Sold to W. Thomas & Co, Liverpool who renamed her Cambrian Princess.
- December 1913
Bought by Otto A. Färdig, Nystad, Finland. Cambrian Princess was the largest full-rigged ship ever to be registered in Finland.
- 16 January 1914
Lost most of her rigging in the Southern Atlantic ocean on a voyage from Penarth to Port Nolloth, South Africa.
- 7 June 1914
Took refuge in Rio de Janeiro, and later sold to owners in Helsinki.
- 31 January 1916
Arrived in Genoa after her first voyage under her new owners, and immediately sold to Italian ownerws who renamed her Alessandra.
- 15 March 1918
Sunk by German submarine.
