Built of iron by McMillan & Son, Dumbarton for J.R. Menzies, Leith. She was rigged as a three-masted full-rigged ship carrying royals over single topgallant sails and double topsails.

Ran aground at Vang, near Hasle, Bornholm and was wrecked en route from Sundsvall, Sweden to Delagos Bay, South Africa with a cargo of timber.
